Birmingham Bisons Handball Club is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Sports Photographer & Videographer to help us capture and showcase our teams in action.

The role will primarily involve photographing and filming competitive matches, with occasional training sessions and club events, live streaming, promotion and performance analysis.

Role Overview

Working alongside our coaches and wider volunteer team, you will help capture the energy of Birmingham Bisons — from match action and team moments to behind-the-scenes content.

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity, with attendance based around your availability and the club’s fixture schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Photograph home matches and selected away fixtures where possible
  • Record full matches for coaching, performance analysis and statistical collection
  • Capture short-form video and photography for social media and promotional use
  • Support live streaming of selected matches
  • Occasionally attend training sessions, tournaments and club events to capture content
  • Help set up and operate cameras and basic recording/streaming equipment
  • Capture team, player and behind-the-scenes photography
  • Organise and share photo and video content with the club
  • Work with coaches and the club's media team to identify useful content and improve our digital presence

Who This Role Is For

This opportunity could be ideal for a photography, videography, sports media, journalism, broadcasting, content creation or digital media student, or anyone looking to build practical experience in sports content.

No previous handball experience is required — just an interest in sport, visual storytelling and getting involved.

Experience with photography, cameras, video editing or live streaming would be beneficial, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Birmingham Bisons Handball Club competes in national and regional competitions and works closely with the University of Birmingham Handball Club, creating opportunities for players, coaches and volunteers across the city.
