Role Description
This part-time Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach role is a hybrid position based in Guildford, with a mix of on-site training sessions and some planning and admin work from home. The coach will design and implement strength and conditioning programs tailored to players’ positions, ages, and fitness levels, focusing on injury prevention, performance enhancement, and overall athletic development. Day-to-day tasks include leading warm-ups, gym-based and field-based conditioning sessions, monitoring player progress, and updating training plans as needed. The coach will work closely with coaching staff to align physical preparation with match schedules and player workloads, and may assist with basic data collection such as fitness assessments, wellness questionnaires, and attendance records. The role also involves maintaining clear communication with players and staff, supporting a safe training environment, and promoting good recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle habits.

Qualifications

- Relevant education or certification in strength & conditioning, sports science, exercise physiology, or a related field.
- Practical experience designing and delivering strength, conditioning, and injury-prevention programs, ideally in football or team sports.
- Knowledge of safe exercise technique, load management, youth and adult athlete development, and basic sports nutrition and recovery principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate diverse players and collaborate effectively with coaching staff.
- Ability to work on-site in Guildford and complete some tasks remotely, with good time management and organizational skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all participants; DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
- First aid training or willingness to complete appropriate first aid certification.
- Previous volunteer or coaching experience in a club, academy, or community sports setting is beneficial but not essential.
