About the Role

OTR are looking for passionate, creative therapists to volunteer for us. This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of an exciting, innovative team delivering 1:1 counselling/psychotherapy mental health support to young people (11-18 year olds), promoting wellbeing and managing distress, from across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

We are looking for volunteer therapists to work Wednesdays at OTR North Somerset (40a Rodney Road, Backwell, BS48 3HW)

Requirements

We are looking for therapists both qualified and in training who:

  • Are creative and open to multiple therapeutic modalities
  • Are able to work with young people
  • Have demonstrable experience of working in a supporting/helping role with young people/adults

Volunteer therapist positions are open to all specialties of therapists, including but not limited to; art, counselling, CBT, drama, systemic, or play therapy. However, therapists will be willing to work outside their modality, in a general relational approach, if required by the young person. OTR will freely provide all trainees their full supervision requirements, as per BACP regulations.

Please note that OTR does not normally take trainee therapists in their first year of training unless they can demonstrate experience working therapeutically with young people.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
