About Edinburgh Direct Aid International
Edinburgh Direct Aid International (EDAI) is a Scottish humanitarian charity dedicated to supporting communities affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty.
For more than 30 years, our volunteer-led organisation has delivered practical humanitarian assistance to people in need. Our current work includes rebuilding schools in Syria, delivering essential supplies to displaced communities in Lebanon, supporting medical and rehabilitation services in Gaza, and providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
As a small, entirely volunteer-run charity, we rely on the skills and commitment of people who want to make a meaningful difference.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Advise on financial controls, payment approvals, and appropriate record-keeping.

- Offer occasional financial guidance to volunteers and project teams.
About You
We would welcome interest from individuals with experience in accountancy, financial management, audit, bookkeeping, or financial reporting.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience in charity finance, restricted funding, or Scottish charity reporting requirements would be particularly valuable, but previous charity experience is not essential.
Flexibility
Much of the work can be undertaken remotely, and we aim to accommodate volunteers' existing professional and personal commitments. However, as EDAI is based in Edinburgh, the ability to attend in-person training is required.
You will be supported by an established team of volunteers who have extensive experience of EDAI's operations and humanitarian programmes.
