Role Description
This is a remote Volunteer Treasurer role requiring only a couple of hours of work per month. The Treasurer will oversee basic financial administration, including recording income and expenses, maintaining simple financial records, and supporting budget planning for the organization. Typical tasks include monitoring donations and grants, updating spreadsheets or accounting tools, preparing brief financial reports for trustees or directors, and helping ensure compliance with relevant UK not-for-profit financial guidelines. The Treasurer will collaborate with other volunteers to support funding applications and provide clear, accessible financial information for decision-making. Communication will be primarily online, using email and virtual meeting platforms.

Qualifications

- Strong numeracy and basic accounting or bookkeeping skills, with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Experience with budgeting, cash flow tracking, and simple financial reporting for charities, nonprofits, or small organizations.
- Comfort using digital tools such as spreadsheets, online banking, and cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
- Understanding of or interest in UK charity or community interest company financial guidelines and compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity in handling financial information, and the ability to communicate clearly with non-finance colleagues.
- Ability to work independently in a remote volunteer setting and manage time effectively within a small monthly commitment.
- Previous experience in a treasurer, finance, or administration role is beneficial but not essential.
- Alignment with the organization’s mission of accessible peer support and sensitivity to mental health and wellbeing issues.
