This is an unpaid, voluntary role. It is not a salaried position and it is not a director appointment.
About us
Creative Futures South West CIC is a community interest company connecting 16 to 19 year old creative learners in further education with creative employers, cultural organisations and progression routes across the South West. We work with 15 college groups covering 20 colleges and more than 20 arts and cultural partners. Our feasibility phase was funded by Arts Council England and we are now moving into delivery.
We are small, run by two unpaid directors, and at the point where the finances need someone who knows what they are doing. We are also recruiting an independent Chair, so you would be joining a governance structure that is being built properly rather than improvised.
The role
- Operate the company bank account within limits set by the board
- Keep the bookkeeping records up to date and reconcile monthly
- Track restricted, designated and unrestricted funds separately, so grant money is always accounted for against its conditions
- Send the board a short monthly finance pack
- Process supplier and freelancer invoices once properly approved
- Support the directors on the annual accounts and the CIC34 community interest report
- Help build simple, proportionate financial processes as we grow

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You would be an officer of the company, not a director. No Companies House filings, no statutory directors' duties, no entry on the public register.

- A finance background: qualified accountant, bookkeeper, finance manager, or equivalent practical experience
- Confidence with online banking and cloud accounting software
- Experience of grant funded or restricted funds is a real advantage
- Reliability and consistency. A small amount of time every month matters more than a burst of effort once a year
