Company Description

Witney Museum is a friendly and community-focused museum located on the High Street in Witney. The museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the local heritage and culture of Witney and the surrounding area. It offers exhibitions, events, and educational programs that engage residents and visitors of all ages. As a small charity, Witney Museum relies on volunteers who want to contribute to cultural preservation and community engagement. The museum provides a collaborative environment where volunteers can develop skills while supporting meaningful local initiatives.

Role Description

The Volunteer Marketing Lead is a part-time, hybrid role based in Witney, with some tasks that can be completed from home. This role focuses on planning and delivering marketing activities that raise awareness of the museum’s exhibitions, events, and educational programs. Responsibilities may include:

The Volunteer Marketing Lead will work closely with the museum Management Team and the volunteer Marketing Assistant to develop marketing plans, track engagement, and ensure consistent messaging. The role may also involve liaising with local community groups, partners, and media outlets to strengthen the museum’s presence and reach.

Qualifications

  • Experience or strong interest in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in a cultural, non-profit, or community setting.
  • Ability to create clear and engaging content for digital and print channels (e.g., social media posts, website updates, newsletters, posters).
  • Comfortable using basic digital tools such as social media platforms, email marketing software, and simple design or layout tools.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan campaigns, manage multiple tasks, and meet agreed deadlines on a part-time schedule.
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of maintaining consistent branding, tone, and messaging.
  • Interest in local history, heritage, or museums and a motivation to support community engagement.
  • Previous volunteering experience or experience working in a small team environment is beneficial but not required.
