I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why This Role Is Needed Now
Content is fundamental to the value proposition and growth of Shoptalk Europe and Shoptalk Luxe. As the European RetailTech portfolio develops, Hyve requires dedicated senior leadership to set the strategic direction of its content, strengthen its industry authority and ensure both events deliver programmes capable of attracting the world’s most influential retail leaders.
The volume and seniority of speakers required create a significant recruitment, relationship-management and delivery workload. This cannot be addressed solely through tactical programme production. It requires an experienced leader who can combine market insight, industry relationships, public visibility, team leadership and disciplined project management.
The role will:
- Provide clear strategic ownership of content across Shoptalk’s European portfolio.
- Ensure Shoptalk Europe recruits enough high-quality speakers to complete the programme and address current content gaps.
- Establish the content proposition and industry credibility required to grow Shoptalk Luxe.
- Add senior capacity to manage the substantial volume of programme development, speaker recruitment and stakeholder engagement required before each event.
- Strengthen Shoptalk’s position as a year-round source of retail insight rather than solely an annual event.
- Improve coordination between content, marketing, audience and commercial teams.
- Develop the European content team and create a more scalable structure for future portfolio growth.
