VP Data Strategy – Media Agency

London | Hybrid, 3 days per week |

This is a high-impact leadership role for a senior data strategist with relevant media / ad-tech experience who wants to shape how major brands use audience data, technology and AI to drive growth.

Sitting at the intersection of data strategy, client consulting and commercial development, you will bring together advanced data solutions, technology partners and agency capabilities to solve complex marketing challenges. You will be visible, client-facing and influential, helping win new business while expanding strategic relationships with existing clients.

Role and responsibilities

  • Act as a senior data strategy partner, translating business and marketing challenges into practical, commercially valuable data solutions.
  • Lead client pitches, strategic presentations and new business opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and grow data-led consulting revenue.
  • Bring together internal specialists, data partners and technology platforms to create integrated solutions.
  • Evaluate the technology pipeline and identify innovative applications for audience intelligence, data collaboration and agentic AI platforms.
  • Develop data strategies that improve audience understanding, targeting, media effectiveness and competitive advantage.
  • Drive adoption of advanced data products and identify new use cases that strengthen their value for clients.
  • Oversee the commercial health, quality and effectiveness of work delivered across your client portfolio.
  • Provide credible industry thought leadership across data-driven marketing and advertising technology.

Skills and experience required

  • Senior experience within data strategy, advertising technology, media, marketing or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of audience data, advertising platforms, data partnerships and the evolving marketing technology landscape.
  • A consultative, commercially minded approach with experience pitching, developing business or growing senior client relationships.
  • Ability to turn complex data and technology capabilities into clear strategies and compelling client propositions.
  • Credibility with senior marketing, data and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience working across matrixed teams and bringing different specialists together around a common client challenge.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy and the responsible application of AI.
  • A forward-thinking approach, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and turn innovation into practical client value.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills.
