The Audio Legal & Governance Hub plays a pivotal role in enabling this success, shaping and delivering Bauer Media Audio’s legal, licensing, regulatory and compliance strategy across its international portfolio. The team is also instrumental in driving excellence across key specialist areas, including music rights, audience measurement, competitions and government affairs.
Led by the VP Legal & Governance (Audio), the function brings together expertise in legal, broadcast licensing, compliance, music rights, competitions, measurement and public policy. The team works in close partnership with Audio Joint Collaboration Teams (JCTs) and Group Legal & Governance colleagues, collaborating across areas such as data protection, sustainability and wider corporate governance.
Together, the team helps ensure consistent standards, effective risk management and regulatory compliance, while safeguarding Bauer’s interests and supporting ambitious commercial objectives. Recognised for its proactive, hands-on and highly collaborative approach, the team combines strategic insight with practical delivery, fostering innovation, integrity and operational excellence across the Audio business.
JOB PURPOSE
The VP Legal & Governance (Audio) plays a critical role in protecting and enhancing Bauer Media Audio’s value by ensuring the business operates within a robust legal, regulatory and governance framework while enabling the delivery of its strategic and commercial objectives.
Leading the Audio Legal & Governance Hub and working as part of the Audio SLT, the role is responsible for delivering a key pillar of the Audio Strategy, “Setting the Stage for Success”, through the proactive management of legal, regulatory and external market factors. The role provides strategic leadership and expert support across Bauer Media Audio and its nine markets, covering key service areas including Legal & Licensing, Compliance, Data Protection, Sustainability, Government Affairs & Public Policy, Audience Measurement and Music Rights.
Working closely with Audio Joint Collaboration Teams (JCTs), market legal teams in UK, Portugal, Poland and Scandinavia, leadership teams and Group functions, the VP Legal & Governance drives consistency, mitigates risk and fosters collaboration to support sustainable growth and the successful delivery of the Audio Strategy.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Functional Leadership
- Lead the Audio Legal & Governance Hub, setting the vision, priorities and roadmap across all key areas: Legal & Licensing, Compliance, Music Rights, Measurement, Competitions, Government Affairs and broader Governance areas including Sustainability and Data Protection.
- Shape and deliver Legal & Governance strategies that support the Audio Strategy, protect Bauer Media Audio's operations and enable sustainable growth across all markets.
- Identify and respond proactively to legal, regulatory, policy and industry developments, ensuring Audio is well positioned to mitigate risk and capitalise on opportunities.
Executive Partnership & Business Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President Audio, Audio SLT and Group General Counsel on strategic, commercial, legal and governance matters.
- Provide leadership on complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional issues, balancing risk management with commercial objectives.
- Contribute to broader business transformation initiatives, ensuring governance, compliance and regulatory considerations are embedded in decision-making.

- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercially focused legal and governance support across Audio's nine markets.
- Oversee Audio's legal operating model, external counsel strategy, legal technology and resource allocation to drive efficiency, consistency and value.
- Provide oversight of broadcast licensing, significant regulatory matters and major commercial or legal disputes impacting the Audio business.
Music Rights
- Lead Audio's music rights strategy, supporting negotiations, dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement to protect and enhance long-term value.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across markets to achieve consistent and commercially effective outcomes in music rights matters.
Government Affairs & Public Policy
- Partner with Government Affairs colleagues, industry bodies and regulators to influence policy developments and support Bauer Media Audio's strategic priorities.
- Ensure Audio is represented in key external forums and consultations, and help shape an operating environment that supports the long-term success of the business.
Compliance, Risk & Data Protection
- Drive a strong culture of integrity, accountability and compliance across Audio.
- Oversee the identification, assessment and management of legal, regulatory and compliance risks, ensuring appropriate controls, governance frameworks and reporting mechanisms are in place.
- Partner with Group Compliance, Internal Audit & Risk and Group Data Protection teams to ensure effective implementation of group standards, policies, training and regulatory requirements.
Sustainability
- Act as the key interface between Audio and Group Sustainability, ensuring effective delivery of sustainability priorities and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Advise Audio leadership on emerging sustainability requirements and support initiatives that strengthen business resilience and stakeholder trust.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Foster strong collaboration across Audio markets, JCTs, L&G, other Group functions and external partners.
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team, promoting excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Build alignment across diverse stakeholders to drive consistent execution and successful delivery of strategic objectives.

Work experience:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister (England & Wales), or equivalent qualification in a European jurisdiction, with 15+ years' post-qualification experience.
- Significant senior in-house legal and governance experience within a complex, multinational organisation, preferably in the media, entertainment
