About the Role

Commercial role acting as the lynchpin between brand, creative teams, and partners. Mission:

  • Build financially solid partnerships.
  • Reflect the brand’s values and vision.
  • Lead a network of agents across Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand in categories like: Publishing, toys, games, stationery, apparel, FMCG, and more.
  • Manage complete licensing lifecycle, from deal generation to launches, including:
    • Retailing strategies.
    • Go-to-market strategies.
    • Product launches.

Reporting Line: Head of Global Sales Licensing & Retail (London)


Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Deal Negotiation: Handle added-value deals for regions without dedicated agents (e.g. France, Germany, Italy).

  • Agent Management: Grow relations in existing territories while ensuring new high-value partnerships.

  • Licensing Strategy: Support the sales strategy per brand and territory, aligning with Kids & Family Sales.

  • Trade Shows: Participate in BLE (Bayern International) Paris Licensing Show, etc.

  • Retail Optimization: Supervise retail operations to improve licensee revenues.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Secure collaborations in key sectors (licencee and partner acquisition).

Budget & Market Analysis

  • Establish and monitor financial targets, breaking them down by category and partner.
  • Track market performance, define licensing strategy based on insights.

Internal Collaboration

  • Value Creation & Coordination: Work with Vice Presidents of Licensing (e.g. UK teams) to align territories and overcome challenges.

  • Cross-Department Liaison: Collaborate with:

    • Creative/marketing teams on product decisions.
    • Reflect market trends and business opportunities.
    • Resolve product approval/launch issues.
  • Contract & Financial Oversight: Monitor business plans, contracts, and financial flows with Sales Admin.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with:

    • Legal/financial departments.
    • Operational teams (cinemas, video, VOD, TV).
  • Agent Network Alignment: Sync agent activities with internal teams for: Creative, legal, financial, and commercial alignment.

Required Experience/Profile

  • Fluent in English and French (level C1).
  • In-Depth Licensing Knowledge: French and European licensing environment, key partners, and distribution networks (minimum 2 years’ experience).
  • Multicultural & Team Skills: Adaptable communication, cross-cultural intelligence.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect product categories, retailers, and consumer needs for brand growth and removal of challenges.
  • Negotiation & Business Acumen: Persuasive, entrepreneurial entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Analytical & Legal FinancialAwareness: Keen eye for detail, understanding of P&L, contracts, and financial/legal agreements.
  • Travel-Friendly: Regular travel required. Attendance at European, French, and international trade fairs.
