At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality.
The most exciting thing is that we’re just getting started and we’ve recently closed our £260 million Series C funding round – the largest fundraise ever completed by a quantum computing company in Europe.
The Purpose
As VP of Product Development, you will lead OQC's Product Development function, transforming validated customer needs, cutting-edge research and emerging market opportunities into scalable, commercially successful products.
You'll shape how our product portfolio evolves, ensuring every investment delivers long-term customer value and supports OQC's ambitious growth strategy.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you'll define and execute the Product Development strategy, building the governance, operating models and organisational capability needed to deliver repeatable, market-leading products. Working closely with Research, Engineering, Client Solutions and Commercial teams, you'll bridge innovation and execution to accelerate the commercialisation of quantum technologies.
What You'll Be Working On
- Define and execute OQC's Product Development strategy, ensuring alignment with company vision, commercial objectives and long-term growth.
- Own the Product Development roadmap and portfolio, making strategic investment, prioritisation and lifecycle decisions that maximise customer and business value.
- Partner with Research, Engineering and Architecture to transform breakthrough innovation into scalable, commercially deployable products.
- Collaborate with Product Discovery, Product Strategy and Client Solutions teams to identify opportunities to convert bespoke customer solutions into repeatable products and services.
- Establish world-class product development governance, delivery frameworks and performance metrics that enable predictable execution and informed investment decisions.
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing global Product Development organisation, driving capability growth, leadership development and organisational excellence.
- Represent OQC's product vision with executive stakeholders, customers, partners and investors while championing collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
