The Opportunity

This is the first senior automotive hire in the group, and the scope reflects that. This is a UK-focused role: the VP of Sales, Automotive will own Hypervolt's UK automotive route to market end to end — vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), franchised dealer groups, leasing and fleet management companies, salary sacrifice providers, mobility schemes, and rental operators. Every new electric vehicle handed over in the UK is a home charging decision made at the point of vehicle sale — this role exists to make Hypervolt the default answer to that decision.

This is a build-it role, and a deal-owning one. There is no team to manage and no pipeline to inherit: the VP of Sales, Automotive will personally source, structure, negotiate, and close every partnership in the channel, from first meeting to signed agreement to live volume. The right person will arrive with the relationships to open doors at senior executive level from day one, and will design the channel strategy, the commercial models, and the partner playbook as they go. It carries the breadth and strategic weight of a Chief Commercial Officer position within its domain — and its scope will grow as the channel proves out.

The role demands someone who is equally comfortable negotiating a multi-year preferred supplier agreement in an OEM's head office as they are on a dealership forecourt working out why a handover process loses charger attachment. Candidates from EV charging, automotive technology, telematics, in-car software, and connected mobility businesses are all in scope — what matters is a personal track record of selling both hardware and software into automotive companies, and a live network to sell into.

Key Responsibilities

1. Channel Strategy & Revenue Ownership

The VP of Sales, Automotive will define and own the automotive channel plan — target segments, partner prioritisation, commercial models, and revenue targets — with full personal accountability for channel revenue and gross margin. They will build the business case for each partnership model (hardware resale, referral, bundled-with-vehicle, subscription, and funded-installation structures), select the right model per partner, and own forecasting and pipeline discipline in the company's CRM. This is a carry-the-number role: the revenue target belongs to this person, not to a team beneath them.

2. OEM Partnerships

The VP of Sales, Automotive will open and lead relationships with vehicle manufacturers' UK national sales companies, securing preferred or exclusive home charging supplier status — escalating to European head offices where commercial decisions for the UK market sit there. They will navigate long, multi-stakeholder procurement cycles spanning commercial, product, digital, and aftersales teams, and will drive integration conversations personally from first pitch through technical scoping to signed agreement. Because Hypervolt sells a connected product, these are hardware-plus-software deals: co-branded customer journeys, API integrations, vehicle telematics connections, and white-label experiences, delivered in close partnership with Hypervolt's product and engineering teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

3. Dealer, Leasing, Fleet & Salary Sacrifice Channels

The VP of Sales, Automotive will build and run the programme for franchised dealer groups — commercial terms, point-of-sale journeys, dealer staff training, and attachment-rate optimisation at vehicle handover — and will win and grow relationships with leasing companies, fleet management companies, and salary sacrifice providers, where the charger is bundled into the monthly vehicle payment. They will design the operational handshake with Hypervolt's installation network and customer support function so that a charger sold with a car is installed before the car arrives.

4. Tenders & Structured Procurement

The VP of Sales, Automotive will lead major automotive and mobility tenders and RFPs end to end — bid strategy, pricing, commercial terms, and presentation — drawing on internal legal, finance, and operations support. They will negotiate framework agreements, service level commitments, and pricing structures that protect margin over multi-year terms.

5. Market Leadership

The VP of Sales, Automotive will represent Hypervolt to the automotive sector at industry events and in partner boardrooms, acting as the face of the business in this market. They will contribute market intelligence and channel insight to company-level commercial strategy, including how Hypervolt's energy flexibility and smart charging capabilities strengthen the automotive proposition.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Background

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years of experience: a seasoned commercial leader with a demonstrable personal history of selling both hardware and software products into automotive companies — OEMs, dealer groups, leasing and fleet management companies, or mobility providers — in the UK market. They must be able to point to named, material deals they sourced, structured, negotiated, and signed themselves, and speak credibly to the contract value, volumes, and commercial terms behind them.

An established, active network in the sector is essential, not advantageous: candidates must bring existing senior relationships within OEM national sales companies, leasing companies, salary sacrifice providers, or major dealer groups that they can activate from day one. This role has no ramp-up period funded by inbound demand — the pipeline starts with the candidate's own rolodex.

Candidates should have experience running technical sales cycles involving product and integration workstreams alongside commercial terms, and be comfortable in the room with a partner's digital and engineering stakeholders. Strong commercial and financial literacy is expected: the ability to build a partner business case, model unit economics, and defend pricing under procurement pressure.

Candidates who have previously built a channel or partnership function from the ground up in a scaling business — who have created the playbook rather than run someone else's — will be particularly well suited.

What Sets the Right Candidate Apart

The right person will be energised by owning deals personally rather than managing others who do. They will be a genuine operator: happy to write their own proposals, run their own pipeline, and get on the road, while carrying the commercial judgement and gravitas of a senior leader in the partner's boardroom. They will bring real fluency in the electric vehicle transition — charging, tariffs, and ideally energy flexibility — or the ability to get there fast. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis are required.

Compensation & Benefits

Hypervolt offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the seniority and breadth of the role:

  • Competitive base salary benchmarked to UK market rates for senior commercial leadership in high-growth technology companies
  • Uncapped performance-linked commission tied directly to channel revenue and signed partnerships
  • Equity participation in the Hypervolt Group, aligning long-term incentives with enterprise value creation
  • Comprehensive health and medical insurance
  • 25 days of annual leave per year in addition to UK public holidays
  • A genuine leadership role with direct executive access and strategic influence from day one
  • Premium office environment at One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, moments from Canary Wharf station, with hybrid working and significant time in the field with partners
