Vice President / Director - Hedge Fund Rates Sales

Overview

A leading international investment bank is seeking an experienced Hedge Fund Rates Sales professional to join its London-based Rates franchise. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of hedge fund clients across Europe, delivering market insight, trade ideas, and execution solutions across a broad range of rates products.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Trading, Research, and Financing teams within a well-established rates platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth, deepening client relationships, and supporting the continued expansion of the franchise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of hedge fund clients, including macro, relative value, and multi-strategy accounts.
  • Drive revenue generation across a broad range of rates products, including:
    • Government Bonds
    • Interest Rate Swaps (IRS)
    • Inflation Products
    • Repo & Financing
    • Money Markets
    • Futures and Listed Rates Products
  • Deliver actionable trade ideas, market colour, and investment themes to clients based on macroeconomic developments and market opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Rates Trading teams to facilitate execution and provide liquidity solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to increase wallet share within existing relationships while originating new business opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of central bank policy, economic data, and global market developments impacting rates markets.
  • Work collaboratively with regional and global sales teams to deliver seamless client coverage.
  • Contribute to the growth and strategic development of the hedge fund rates business.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience within Institutional Rates Sales with a primary focus on hedge fund clients.
  • Demonstrable track record of revenue generation and client relationship management.
  • Strong product knowledge across:
    • Government Bonds
    • Interest Rate Swaps
    • Inflation
    • Repo
    • Money Markets
    • Listed Rates Products
  • Existing relationships with macro, relative value, and multi-strategy hedge funds.
  • Strong understanding of European rates markets and key market drivers.
  • Ability to identify client needs, originate trading opportunities, and develop long-term relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly commercial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced market environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Current Vice President, Director, Executive Director, or equivalent within an Institutional Rates Sales team.
  • Experience covering hedge fund clients at a leading global or regional investment bank.
  • Strong understanding of ECB, BoE, and Fed-driven market dynamics.
  • Exposure across both cash and derivatives rates products.
  • Proven ability to work closely with trading desks to generate revenue and enhance client engagement.
