Contract: 6 Months Location: North West (Hybrid, 1-2 days per week onsite preferred) Rate: £450 - £525 per day IR35: Inside IR35 Start Date: Ideally within 2 weeks

I'm working with a large organisation looking to engage an experienced Vulnerability & Patch Management Engineer on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on delivery role focused on reducing vulnerability exposure across the technology estate, improving patch management processes, and driving greater automation across remediation activities.

The Role

You'll take ownership of vulnerability remediation and patching activities across operating systems, infrastructure, and third-party applications. Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams, you'll help ensure vulnerabilities are resolved efficiently, safely, and in line with security and compliance requirements.

The successful contractor will also play a key role in developing more automated and scalable patch management processes, helping to strengthen the organisation's overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage vulnerability remediation and patching activities across the technology estate.
  • Identify, assess and prioritise vulnerabilities based on risk, impact and business criticality.
  • Deploy operating system and third-party application patches.
  • Develop, enhance and automate patch management processes.
  • Package and deploy applications using endpoint management platforms.
  • Troubleshoot failed deployments and implement remediation actions where required.
  • Assess system dependencies and potential service impacts before implementing changes.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud and application teams to coordinate remediation activities.
  • Validate and verify that vulnerabilities have been successfully remediated.
  • Support improvements to processes and controls aligned to Cyber Essentials Plus requirements.
  • Review and optimise existing patch management tooling and practices.
  • Provide occasional infrastructure and network support where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
