The Role
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a highly motivated and organised Waiting List Coordinator to join the Medical Specialities team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
This is a key role with responsibility for the daily management of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists across Medical Specialties, ensuring accuracy of records, effective use of capacity, and compliance with national and local waiting time targets. You will work closely with the Waiting List Manager, Clinical Service Manager, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support service delivery and minimise patient waiting times.

Contract Type: Permanent | Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists across Medical Specialties, ensuring that patient records are accurate, up to date, and effectively maintained.
- Monitoring waiting list performance, identifying patients who are at risk of breaching treatment time guarantees, and taking appropriate action to mitigate delays.
- Contribute to capacity planning processes and support service delivery improvements to help minimise patient waiting times.
- Analyse and interpret complex data, producing reports to support operational decision-making.
- Effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical teams, managers, patients, and relatives where appropriate, ensuring information is conveyed clearly and professionally.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in IT systems is essential
- Experience with systems such as TrakCare, Microsoft Excel, and data reporting tools is desirable
- Knowledge of:
- Waiting list management
- Treatment time guarantees
- Data protection requirements (desirable)
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality, patient-centred service in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde values
