About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Admin and Clerical team at the Jessop Wing Neonatal Unit. We have vacancies for two part-time Ward Clerks to join us working Friday to Sunday on a rota basis between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00.

As one of four Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the Yorkshire and Humber Neonatal Network, the Jessop Wing Neonatal Unit provides care to the babies of Sheffield, the wider Yorkshire and Humber Operational Delivery Network, and beyond.

Responsibilities

As a Ward Clerk, you will provide an effective, efficient, and professional reception desk service to the Neonatal Unit and Follow Up Clinic. You will work as part of the wider team to help deliver a high-quality service to babies and their families. You will support clinical staff with administrative tasks and maintaining an accurate Electronic Patient Record.

  • Working on one of the Neonatal Unit’s two reception desks, you will be the first point of contact on the Neonatal Unit for telephone calls and in-person visitors.
  • You will also cover our Follow Up Clinic as needed during your hours and be the first point of contact for on-the-day clinic bookings where rapid access follow-up is required.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable communicating with visitors to the Neonatal Unit including parents and families, medical and other professionals, interpreters, and ambulance services.
  • You will maintain confidentiality, discretion, and the security of the unit in your role.
  • You will help our visitors with information about the unit and the services and support available to our families.
  • You will use computer systems accurately and effectively to support the safe delivery of our services. You will be willing to learn new systems, follow processes, and contribute to the team’s continuous improvement.
  • You will also handle paper records and filing as required and make sure that records are available and correctly traced in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure that stocks are ordered and maintained.
  • You will maintain a tidy and orderly working environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
