We currently have a vacancy for a full-time Paediatric receptionist within the Paediatric Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Predominantly based on the two paediatric wards Dolphin and Sunshine, however, you will also be covering shifts in Children’s Outpatients and back-office administration.
About the Role
We require a friendly individual with excellent communication and organisation skills for this key post in our close-knit service. You will be working as part of a team providing seven-day cover for our reception areas. Your day-to-day tasks will include answering our security entry system and telephones, managing the patient administration system (CRS), liaising with other hospitals & departments, and general clerical/office skills (filing, photocopying, note pulling).
This post involves direct verbal contact with parents, other family members, and visitors at a sensitive time in their lives, requiring an empathetic and courteous manner. You will be an essential and valued member of a busy multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals including Doctors and Nurses.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
