Ward Clerk – Preoperative Assessment & Outpatients

Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone

Contract: 37.5 Hours Per Week, Permanent

Shifts: Between the hours of 8am and 8.30pm Monday to Saturday

Salary: £24,784.50 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a friendly and motivated administrator to join our Preoperative Assessment and Outpatients Team. You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary team and will support the Department Manager in providing excellent patient service and excellent first and last impression of KIMS Hospital.

This role is ideally suited to an administrator who is completely patient focused, with careful attention to detail.

Role Responsibilities

As a Ward Clerk you will:

  • Assist with the smooth running of clinics, supporting the team with all administration tasks including booking in patients.
  • Ensure that all patient documentation is maintained within one set of case notes by retrieving medical records and updating pre-assessment information when necessary.
  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the clinic, respecting the patient’s dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs at all times.
  • Input patient information onto patient administration system as appropriate.
  • Liaise with NHS hospitals, GP Surgeries and other healthcare providers regarding patient care/information when necessary.
  • Assisting patients to use LifeBox, the digital preoperative platform used for the assessment of patients.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Have a good standard of education with proven literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Be a highly organised and effective administrator who is able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Have experience working within the healthcare sector or alternatively within a high-pressured administrative role in another sector.
  • Possess excellent IT skills and be able to work to tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • Have experience working in an acute hospital setting.
  • Have experience working in Preoperative Assessment.
