Role Overview
We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join our Maternity wards working a combination of short shifts throughout a 24 hour service. Shifts could be on Rothschild and/or Labour ward. The successful candidate will be welcoming the mothers on admission and supporting midwives, doctors and maternity support workers with their administration and discharge paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Provide a courteous, efficient and professional ward clerk service
- Make a valuable contribution to support patient care from the time of admission, transfer or discharge
- Act as the first contact point for all ward visitors and members of the multi-professional team
Requirements
- Well-organized and enthusiastic individuals
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload
- Self-motivated with excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on your own as well as part of a busy team
- Previous NHS clerical experience is desirable
- Administrative and keyboard skills would be an advantage
- Excellent telephone manner
