Ward Clerk - Stroke Unit
We are seeking a Ward Clerk to cover a 7-day service on The Stroke Unit. You need to be flexible and reliable to provide an efficient and effective reception service to patients, visitors, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Key Requirements
- Flexibility in working shift patterns (no night shifts required)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Initiative and common sense
About the Role
The Stroke Unit is a busy, yet friendly place to work. The unit has 30 beds, which includes 3 Hyper Acute bays. The ward has a high volume of admissions and discharges, and prides itself on being a welcome and friendly environment for both our staff and patients. From September 2026, patients from Somerset will be admitted for the first 72 hours of their stroke and then repatriated to Somerset to continue their stroke recovery pathway.

- Taking phone calls
- Liaising with the nursing team
- Booking transport for the patients, if required
- Maintaining electronic systems including PAS, Patient tracker, and Electronic Discharge summaries (EDS)
Desirable Experience
- Experience of working in a busy environment is desirable but not essential
- Ability to be a team player and have the desire to support the team in providing an excellent service for our patients, their families, and carers
