Job Opportunity at Ward 4, Royal Lancaster Infirmary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team on Ward 4 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Our team pride themselves on exceeding the expectation of our patients and their families and work very closely as a team to support each other in our every day work.

Ward 4 is a busy department looking for an individual to provide a warm and welcoming approach to all patients, staff and visitors attending the ward. The ideal candidate will take leadership in the management and organisation of patient records, admissions, transfers and discharges using the appropriate IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Good communication and IT skills, keeping the IT systems live at all times.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive, confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Responding to ward requests from ward staff and delivering to other parts of the hospital.
  • Liaising with senior nurse in charge and providing a welcoming approach to all visitors to the unit.
  • Working with minimal supervision providing administrative support to the ward team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts opposite to the ward clerk in post.

Hospitals and Services: We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

  • FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
  • WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
  • All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
