An Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Nurse Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse leader to join our Acute Medical Unit as a substantive Band 7 Ward Manager.

About the Role

You will lead a dynamic 37-41 bedded ward delivering high-quality care to acutely unwell patients admitted directly from the Emergency Department. This is a fast-paced, rewarding environment where strong clinical leadership, decision-making, and a passion for patient flow are essential.

As Ward Manager, you will play a key role in driving standards of care, supporting and developing staff, and ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient experience, improve flow, and contribute to ongoing service development within acute medicine.

This role is ideal for a confident leader who thrives under pressure, is committed to continuous improvement, and is ready to make a real impact in an acute setting.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model, mentor, and preceptor to the ward nursing team
  • Ensure delivery of the Trust's Nursing Strategy at ward level
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Trust policies
  • Responsible for nursing team adherence to Trust policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards
  • Responsible for ensuring that care and advice to patients is of the highest quality, placing the needs of the patient, their relatives, and carers at the center of care delivery
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, individualized patient care
  • Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy
  • Deal with concerns raised by patients and visitors in a proactive manner and take remedial action as necessary
  • Act as the patient's advocate
  • Implement and sustain systems to maintain infection control and cleaning

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
