Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to lead and manage Charnley short stay medical ward at the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust based in Harlow.

In this role you will be an integral part of a team who are committed to delivering the highest quality clinical outcomes in a supported environment, where you will be valued for your skills and expertise.

You will have proven success in leadership and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals promoting a 'joined -up' approach to patient centred care. You will also possess excellent clinical skills related to an Urgent and Emergency care environment.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be a motivated and enthusiastic person who can lead by example through positive and visible leadership to manage the Ward.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, which you will use to collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the nursing team are supported to deliver excellent care, by providing leadership and direction, sharing clinical knowledge, assessing ward performance identifying areas for development and implementing actions to improve, supporting staff to reach their full potential and patients receive care that is evidence based by a team that have the skills required.
  • You will provide support for your nursing team and work together with the practice development team to ensure all staff work within an atmosphere which is conducive to learning and development.
  • You will manage the ward staff establishment with excellent Roster management and management of staff absence.
  • You will work with your Matron and other senior members of the team, providing assurance of standards within the ward.
  • You will work with the wider Acute Medicine team to include the Emergency Department to improve efficiency and patient experience on the ward within this fast paced environment.
