Job Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic leader - passionate about high standards of patient care and keen to develop within our strong, supportive, friendly and established multidisciplinary team.

You will be a great role model, leading by example to inspire the team around you to provide exceptional holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice.

Main Responsibilities

As a Band 7 Ward Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff, patient care, and resources within a community hospital ward.

  • Provide supportive leadership to the nursing team, ensuring high standards of care and efficient use of resources in patient rehabilitation.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to help prevent avoidable hospital admissions and support timely discharges in coordination with the Integrated Neighbourhood Care Team and other partners.
  • Deliver expert nursing care, promote best practices, and guide staff in maintaining quality standards. Offer professional advice, recognize personal limitations, and seek support when needed. Ensure the unit meets all CQC requirements with appropriate evidence.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • NMC 1st Level registration qualification
  • Further training and experience to Masters level or equivalent
  • A teaching qualification
  • Evidence of post registration development

Desirable

  • Significant post registration experience
  • Recent acute medical or surgical experience
  • Experience in leading, supporting and developing a team
  • Evidence of managing and improving the patient experience
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of personal accountability
  • Shows initiative, able to think positively and stimulate a productive team climate
  • Works well under pressure
