Warehouse Apprentice

A Warehouse apprentice is required for a leading electrical wholesaler. The main role is within the warehouse learning all the products and building product knowledge, picking, packing, goods in and out. Fantastic career progression opportunity for the right candidate.

Working for Edmundson Electrical BS3 4JR

After full training responsibilities will include:

  • Managing stock in and out (to external clients)
  • Picking and packing
  • Store transfers and stock control
  • Completing the paperwork within the office
  • Raising quotations
  • Sometimes liaising with customers on the Trade counter
  • Processing orders
  • Some heavy lifting will be involved with loading and unloading the vans

What is an Electrical Wholesaler?

Electrical wholesalers sell the products we all use in our homes, businesses, entertainment venues, cafes that give us access to electricity- from lighting our homes through to floodlighting a football match, from recharging a mobile phone to recharging an electric vehicle. The products you will be working with are used in domestic, industrial, and commercial settings, and are installed by contractors and electricians.

Apprenticeship Details

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Course Contents

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
  • Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • Support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.
  • Conduct handover activities.

Apprenticeship Standard

Completing a Level 2 Supply Chain warehouse Apprenticeship Standard consisting of:

  • Knowledge and competence qualification in Supply Chain Warehouse at Level 2
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)- final test and observation

The vocational and academic training aspects are separated and delivered by separate teams. The vocational training and assessment is conducted, more often than not, on site according to the employers wishes.

Notice of dates is agreed well in advance of a site visit. Training and assessment are conducted both on- and off-the-job, according to the needs of the course and the learner. Every effort is made to ensure the best result is achieved by the learner.

Qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4-9)
  • Maths (grade 4-9)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Please ensure you have looked at the travel time to the location and worked out the form of transport you will be taking. Please be aware that there is studying involved but in work time only.

Employment

The ATA will employ you on behalf of this organisation Edmundson Electrical whilst you are completing your apprenticeship qualification.
