Join DC Flooring (UK) Limited — a specialist commercial and industrial flooring contractor based in Basildon — as a Warehouse Apprentice

You will gain hands-on experience supporting our warehouse manager in a busy construction environment, working towards a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working

You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work:

  • Assist with the receipt, checking and put-away of stock and materials deliveries
  • Pick, pack and prepare flooring materials and equipment for dispatch to site teams
  • Support stock control and cycle counting to help maintain accurate inventory records
  • Help load and unload delivery vehicles safely, following manual handling procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment in line with health and safety guidelines
  • Liaise with site teams and suppliers to help coordinate the timely delivery of materials
  • Support the warehouse manager with basic administrative tasks such as goods-in documentation and stock reports

Supply chain warehouse operative (level 2)

Course contents:

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
  • Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • Support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.
  • Conducts handover activities.

Essential qualifications:

GCSE in:

  • Maths and English (grade 2)

Other requirements:

The role is based at our Basildon office. Candidates will need to be able to commute to Paycocke Road, Basildon, SS14 3DR. There is free on-site parking available. Occasional UK-wide project support may be required administratively but no travel is expected from this role.

DC Flooring (UK) Limited

DC Flooring (UK) Limited is a specialist commercial and industrial flooring subcontractor based in Basildon, Essex. We have been trading since August 2009 and have grown to a team of over 40 staff, delivering flooring projects across the UK.

Our work spans resin and epoxy systems, diamond grinding, carpet tiles, vinyl, screeding and surface preparation. Recent projects include work for Morgan Sindall, Pexhurst and Marks & Spencer.

We hold Constructionline Gold, SafeContractor SSIP approval and are members of the Contract Flooring Association (CFA). We take the development of our people seriously.

Your earnings can increase over time with an apprenticeship. On successful completion of the Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship, there is a genuine opportunity for a full-time permanent role within the business. DC Flooring has been growing year-on-year and there are real prospects for progression into warehouse, logistics or supply chain operations roles for the right candidate.
