Medical Records/Warehouse Clerk
This is an entry-level, onsite, contract-to-hire position for a hospital system's transition from paper records to digital records. They are looking for people interested in growing into a long-term, full-time opportunity.
Travel between multiple Health locations throughout the Rochester area is required, including occasional travel to Batavia, NY, as needed.
Shift: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
Pay: $18.50/hr (paid weekly + benefits)
Position Overview
Responsible for organizing, tracking, storing, retrieving, retaining, and securely destroying health information records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and state and federal regulations. This role supports multiple Rochester Regional Health facilities and storage locations throughout the Rochester area.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort through medical records that need to be entered into the computer into e-files.
- Once looking through paper charts, determine if they fall under the destruction category or if they can be indexed.
- Data entry skills to type accurate information into the computer efficiently.
- Overlook accurate information before submitting medical records into the EMR.
- Collect the charts able to be indexed and sort them onto pallets for transporting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Strong data entry and computer skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Comfortable working with large volumes of records and maintaining accurate documentation.
Work Environment & Travel Requirements
This is a fully onsite position.
- Work will take place in office storage rooms and warehouses.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly.
- Reliable transportation is required.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
