We are recruiting for a Warehouse & Distribution Supervisor to join our JPS branch in Wakefield (WF7 6HX).
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm
This is a hands-on supervisory role, leading a small team and supporting the day-to-day warehouse and distribution operation. You will coordinate deliveries, put stock away, select and load customer orders, carry out Health & Safety checks and work closely with customers and colleagues to keep everything running smoothly.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and support a small warehouse and distribution team, helping to organise workloads and keep the operation running smoothly.
- Be hands-on in the warehouse and yard, supporting the team with picking, stock movements, loading and unloading.
- Select and prepare customer deliveries accurately, making sure the right products are ready to go at the right time.
- Load vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring orders are secure and ready for delivery.
- Receive incoming deliveries and put stock away safely and accurately.
- Carry out regular branch Health & Safety checks and help ensure the warehouse and yard meet company standards.
- Keep the warehouse and yard clean, organised and safe for colleagues, drivers and customers.
- Work closely with drivers and the wider branch team to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues.
- Deal directly with customers, providing a helpful and professional service and responding to queries.
- Support the Branch Manager with the day-to-day running of the operation and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Lead by example, creating a positive team environment and making sure company procedures are followed.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics or branch environment.
- Experience of supervising, coordinating or leading a small team.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in the day-to-day operation.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within a warehouse, yard or distribution environment.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and keep deliveries on track.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with customers, drivers and colleagues.
- A reliable and practical approach, with a focus on getting things done safely and efficiently.
- Experience within construction materials, builders’ merchanting or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.
