Warehouse First Line Manager | Retail | W.Yorkshire | £32k

Lead a team. Drive performance. Build a culture of operational excellence.

I'm partnering with a retailer who are seeking a number of First Line Managers to join a busy, fast-paced Distribution Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for your own operational area, lead a team of colleagues and play a key role in delivering exceptional warehouse performance.

Working closely with Shift Managers and the wider leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of around 50 colleagues, driving productivity, maintaining high standards and ensuring safety, quality and efficiency are at the forefront of everything you do.

Shift Pattern: Rotating shift (06:00am - 2:00pm / 2:00pm - 10:00pm) working any 5 days from 7.

The Role

As a First Line Manager, you will take ownership of your area of the warehouse operation, supporting your team to achieve performance targets while creating an engaged and positive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of approximately 50 colleagues.
  • Managing day-to-day warehouse activities across inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch and inventory management.
  • Supporting the delivery of operational KPIs, identifying challenges and working with the wider team to implement corrective actions.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture and ensuring safe working practices are embedded within your team.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Inventory, Planning, HR, Health & Safety and other operational functions.
  • Ensuring resources are effectively managed to meet changing operational demands and customer requirements.
  • Delivering engaging pre-shift briefings, communicating key performance updates and maintaining effective team engagement.
  • Supporting performance management through coaching, feedback and development.
  • Assisting the Shift Manager with operational leadership, including shift handovers when required.
  • Helping to refine and improve standard operating processes, procedures and ways of working.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
