Warehouse First Line Manager

Are you a proven leader who thrives in a warehouse environment? Does motivating and developing a team come naturally to you? Do you have a flexible approach to management that allows you to organise and prioritise workload effectively? If yes, we have the opportunity for you!

We’re looking for a Warehouse First Line Manager to join us at our Halfords contract, at our site in Crick, Northampton. You’ll support the Shift Manager in the efficient running of the warehouse shift, ensuring optimum use of resources to deliver first class customer service. Taking a proactive approach to enhancing employee engagement and their development, you’ll drive forward a culture of continuous improvement.

This is a full time, permanent position, working on an any 5 from 6 shift pattern. The hours will rotate weekly between 05:30 to 14:00 and 13:30 to 22:00.

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £33,475 per annum. You’ll also receive 33 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Utilise available resources to allocate and distribute tasks within the operation to maximise efficiency in order to achieve and exceed customer KPI's/productivity targets
  • Maintain and communicate all operational procedures, have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the warehouse operation and system
  • Create and maintain a positive team culture, by actively encouraging involvement from all, to improve employee engagement
  • Identify cost saving initiatives and implement corrective actions where appropriate to maximise the efficiency of the warehouse operation
  • With good understanding of Health & Safety you’ll strive to make sure all operational processes are fully compliant with our policies, while accurately identifying risks and escalating your findings

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • A proven track record at a similar level, within a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Demonstrable experience of managing disciplinary, grievance and absence matters, taking a proactive approach to poor performance/capability
  • Excellent people skills - the ability to effectively lead, develop and manage a team, whilst identifying areas for development and recognising success
  • Experience managing conflicting priorities, with the ability to plan and organise a warehouse operation
  • ILM/CMI Level 3 desirable
