Brief Description
Warehouse & Logistics Operative
Location: Swallowfield, Reading, Berkshire (RG7)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (40 hours per week)
Contract: 18 months with option to extend
Salary: £28,500 per annum plus benefits

We are seeking a proactive and organised Warehouse & Logistics Operative to support a technology-focused warehouse operation in Swallowfield, Reading. This role is ideal for someone with strong warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience who enjoys working in a structured environment handling valuable technology assets and spare parts.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Asset Management
- Receive, inspect and record incoming goods against delivery documentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and stock locations.
- Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and damaged items.
- Ensure equipment is stored safely and appropriately.
Goods In / Goods Out Operations
- Process inbound and outbound shipments efficiently.
- Pick, pack, and dispatch equipment and spare parts accurately.
- Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and courier bookings.
- Coordinate deliveries, collections, and logistics activities.
- Manage returns and reverse logistics processes.

Warehouse Operations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.
- Support warehouse layout improvements and space optimisation.
- Ensure all stock locations and storage areas are clearly labelled.
- Monitor warehouse supplies and consumables.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records using inventory and warehouse management systems.
- Produce stock and operational reports as required.
- Update asset tracking and inventory databases.
- Support operational and customer service teams with inventory enquiries.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Participate in risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse security and asset protection requirements.
Requirements
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, inventory control, or stores environment.
- Experience receiving, processing, and dispatching goods.
- Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
- Comfortable using warehouse management systems, ERP systems, or inventory databases.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.

Desirable Experience
- Experience handling IT hardware, technology equipment, or electronic components.
- Experience within a service, technical, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
- Knowledge of asset management processes.
- Forklift or pallet truck experience (training can be provided where required).
- Experience supporting KPI-driven operations.
