Description
Impact Recruitment are working with a well-established Northampton-based business to recruit a Warehouse Operative to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, with responsibility for goods in, stock control, picking, packing and dispatch. The role also has a strong focus on accuracy, IT systems and improving warehouse processes.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Location: Northampton
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Responsibilities
- Handle goods in, stock, picking, packing and dispatch activities.
- Manage non-standard deliveries, urgent orders and overseas shipments.
- Update stock information accurately using warehouse systems.
- Book in shipments and maintain accurate order and courier records.
- Use a PDA and other warehouse systems as part of the day-to-day operation.
- Carry out stock checks, cycle counts and audits, investigating discrepancies.
- Identify recurring stock, dispatch and courier issues before they cause problems.
- Support improvements to warehouse processes, layout and stock handling.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised warehouse.
- Manage courier issues, missed collections and delivery problems.
- Support the Operations Manager with Health & Safety checks and risk assessments.
- Provide support to the wider Operations team during busy periods and staff absences.
- Coach and support newer Warehouse Operatives with goods in, picking, packing and checking procedures.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements
- Previous experience across goods in, stock handling, picking, packing and dispatch within a busy warehouse or fulfilment environment.
- Experience handling complex deliveries, urgent orders and overseas shipments is desirable.
- Confident using computers and warehouse systems.
- Comfortable using stock systems, PDAs, courier platforms and order management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to stock checks and discrepancies.
- Able to work independently and use your own judgement.
- Good organisational skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
- Able to identify process improvements and contribute ideas.
- Confident supporting and coaching less experienced team members.
- Reliable, trustworthy and hardworking.
