Role Description

The Warehouse Operative will be responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organising, and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Join our team and be a valuable asset in the seamless operation of our warehouse, where attention to detail and teamwork are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate processing and locating of goods in and out
  • Picking and packing items for dispatch
  • Loading of vehicles for onward delivery to our customers
  • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy of stock and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklift and pump trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Take responsibility for designated area ensuring stock is correctly stored and labelled.
  • Demonstrate highest levels of housekeeping.
  • Maximise stock availability by working closely with branch stock control and ordering directly where required.
  • Prompt completion of compliance and training modules
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and timekeeping.
  • Follow correct manual handling guidelines in day-to-day activities

Skills & Abilities

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings if required
  • Basic computer skills, including experience using warehouse management systems

Education & Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are preferred
  • A relevant vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ, BTEC) in warehousing, logistics, or a related field would be an advantage
