Driver Hire Preston are recruiting on behalf of their established client based in Buckshaw Village, who specialises in the distribution of insulation products.
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative with a valid Counterbalance FLT Certificate to join their team on a 12-week temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long-term career rather than just another warehouse job. As part of the role, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to train and qualify as an HGV Driver, with all required training provided.
The Role
You will initially work through Driver Hire Preston for 12 weeks, before transferring to their client as a permanent employee following successful completion of the temp-to-perm period.
Your Day-to-day Warehouse Duties Will Include
- General warehouse duties
- Picking and preparing orders for dispatch
- Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Manual handling of insulation products
- Moving and organising stock within the warehouse
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Assisting other members of the warehouse team as required

This is a physical role, so applicants must be comfortable with regular manual handling and physically capable of lifting products safely.
HGV Driver Training & Career Progression
A key part of this opportunity is the potential to progress into HGV driving.
The successful candidate must be willing to undertake training to become a qualified HGV Driver. All necessary training will be provided, giving you the opportunity to gain an additional professional qualification and develop your career within the business.
Once qualified, you will be required to carry out HGV driving duties when needed, alongside your usual responsibilities.
Because of this, we’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing their skills and is genuinely interested in progressing into a driving role.
Hours & Salary
You’ll Work a Consistent Monday To Friday Schedule
06:30am – 3:30pm
The Salary For The Position Is
£32,000 per annum
The role will begin on a 12-week temp-to-perm basis through Driver Hire Preston, with the successful candidate transferring permanently to their client after completing the initial 12 weeks.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must:
- Hold a valid Counterbalance FLT Certificate
- Have previous warehouse experience
- Be physically fit and capable of carrying out regular manual handling and lifting
- Be willing to undertake training to become a qualified HGV Driver
- Be willing to carry out HGV driving duties once trained and when required by the business
- Be reliable and punctual
- Have a strong work ethic
- Have a positive attitude towards work
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills
- Be comfortable working as part of a busy warehouse team
