A look into the role
If you enjoy variety in your working day, learning new skills and getting stuck into different tasks, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
As a Group Operative within our Fresh Foods Warehouse, you'll play an important role in keeping our operation running smoothly, from receiving deliveries into the warehouse to ensuring products are ready for picking and dispatch. This is a varied, hands-on position where you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across several areas of our operation.
Working within the goods-In operation, you'll be responsible for:
- Receiving and unloading supplier deliveries
- Checking products against delivery documentation
- Ensuring stock is accurately recorded using handheld RF scanners and our warehouse management system
- Carrying out checks on product quality, quantities, temperatures and date codes
- Identifying and reporting any discrepancies or damaged goods to ensure our high food safety and stock accuracy standards are maintained
You'll also play a key role in put-away and replenishment activities, using reach trucks to safely move stock into designated warehouse locations, maintain accurate inventory records and ensure picking locations remain fully stocked to support the wider operation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
