Warehouse Operative
We are recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Operative at our Telford dairy site, supporting a fast-paced food manufacturing and automated warehouse operation.
The ideal candidate will hold valid forklift licenses, including counterbalance, and will bring extensive manufacturing, warehouse, and systems experience, with confidence working around operational equipment, stock systems, quality standards, and continuous improvement activity.
Contract: Full Time / Permanent
Salary: £32,011 per annum, plus overtime premiums
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (days & nights)
Working Hours: 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am
Location: Telford Dairy
Key responsibilities:
- Operate safely and effectively within a high-volume food manufacturing and warehouse environment, following site procedures, safe systems of work, and hygiene standards.
- Use forklift equipment, including counterbalance trucks, to move, store, and supply materials in line with operational requirements.
- Support production lines by ensuring materials are available on time, scanned accurately, and moved to the correct locations throughout the system.
- Maintain accurate stock control, goods issuing, receipt of materials, traceability, and stock rotation processes, supporting the management of stock discrepancies where required.
- Use warehouse systems such as SAP/EWM and transport systems to support accurate material movements, stock visibility, and operational performance.
- Identify, respond to, and escalate operational, equipment, process, or quality issues quickly to minimize disruption to production and protect product standards.
- Work confidently around high-speed machinery, automated warehouse processes, and manufacturing plant, including supporting basic fault finding and rectification where appropriate.
- Maintain GMP, hygiene, quality, and audit standards within the warehouse, supporting checks, audits, and follow-up actions as required.
- Share technical knowledge with team members to support capability, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:
- Valid forklift licenses, including counterbalance, are essential.
- Extensive experience within a manufacturing, production, FMCG, food manufacturing, or high-volume warehouse environment.
- Strong technical awareness with the ability to understand manufacturing processes, automated warehouse equipment, plant, machinery, and operational systems.
- Experience using warehouse, stock, or transport systems.
- Confident identifying, rectifying, and escalating issues that may impact safety, quality, production, stock accuracy, or material flow.
- Experience working on or around high-speed/high-volume machines, automated systems, or manufacturing plant, with basic fault-finding capability desirable.
- Strong understanding of stock accuracy, traceability, scanning, goods receipt, stock rotation, and material movement processes.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks, work effectively under own initiative, and remain confident when working without direct supervision.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to suggest and support improvements in productivity, storage, cost, quality, and ways of working.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal teams and external contacts where required.
- A team player who is able to share knowledge, support others, and contribute positively to operational performance.
- Reliable, flexible, resilient, and results-oriented, with good attendance, attitude, and timekeeping.
