Warehouse Operative

We’re looking for a Warehouse Operative to work within the frozen warehouse team in Darton, Barnsley.

We are looking for hard working individuals that are enthusiastic and enjoy a challenge to join our warehouse team.

As a warehouse operative for the Frozen warehouse, you will be trained and skilled in multiple operational areas. From the sortation and labelling of products, the picking of stock within the warehouse, or, the allocation of stock onto pallets, you will act as a crucial part of the processing of frozen product through the operational lifecycle.

The role will require consistent working within a Freezer environment, Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

  • Hours: 40 hours per week working 7am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • Location: Darton, Barnsley S75 5NH
  • Rate of Pay: £12.75 per hour, paid on a four weekly basis.

About the role

Depending on operational need, you will be required to operate in multiple different areas, conducting the following work types.

Packing & Labelling:

  • Labelling and sortation of product based on operational plans. Hitting specific targets and KPIs.
  • Creation and updating of critical compliance paperwork.
  • Sorting, checking, weighing, labelling and ink-jetting products.
  • Be trained for the use of multiple different packing machines.
  • Movement of completed stock to the MHE team.

Picking:

  • Completion of picking exercise in the Freezer, following specific instructions from the Warehouse Management System, ensuring that all stock is picked accurately, escalating issues to the Stock Control team.
  • Ensure the completion of picks in a timely manner, hitting specific KPIs in line with operational need and output.
  • Review of picking location.

Allocation:

  • Completing accurate allocation exercise from one pallet to individual store pallets.
  • Adhere to pre-calculated allocations at all points, escalating differentials to line managers and stock control teams.
  • Ensure KPIs and targets for allocation line are hit at all points.

You may be requested to work in other operational areas, as a warehouse operative, you will be expected to react to the demands of the operation.

You will need to have/be:

  • Experience of working with an Operational environment.
  • Ability to work in Cold Store (up to -20 degrees) environment.
  • Ability to handle operational changes to work within another area.
  • Computer literacy, able to use a warehouse management system and Microsoft office software.
  • A drive and focus for Health & Safety as well as Food Safety.
  • Teamwork focus as well as communicational aptitude.
  • Keep up to date with all relevant training for all operational areas.
