Description
Distribution Centre Assistant
Based in the Distribution Centre, Birmingham
Overview
Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children's self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching tens of thousands of children every week - and we’re growing fast.
We’re now looking for a motivated and organised Distribution Centre Assistant, to join our small team in our brand-new Distribution Centre where we manage internal orders for equipment, quality check and repair broken equipment as well as distribute and collect instruments and equipment across the country.
Due to the national spread of our business, regular travel is expected but this will be minimised to 1 day at a time and will be within regular working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Process staff equipment orders (picking, packing and building where necessary) accurately and efficiently, whilst working to internal Service Level Agreements (SLA). Communicating with staff where necessary to address special handling requests or specific packaging needs.
- Responsible for quality checking returned instruments and equipment before preparing them for redistribution.
- Performing minor repairs to returned instruments (e.g. electric guitars and electric drum kits) which may include replacing broken parts, restringing and minor soldering repairs.
- Processing waste and broken instruments responsibly and accurately through our asset management system.
- Prepare and deliver equipment for new starters across the country to our regional induction centres. This includes building equipment, asset tagging, loading and delivering the equipment in a company van at one of 3 regional induction centres once a fortnight on average
- Drive to regional pick up locations to collect stations and broken/repairable equipment and deliver them back to the Distribution Centre to be processed or repaired.
- Assist with receiving, unloading and processing incoming goods and equipment as directed by the managers.
- Maintain accurate records and participate in stock checks when requested.
- Be responsible for manning our internal inbox which handles equipment queries from staff.
- Work to company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and health and safety standards to maintain efficient and compliant operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
