Role: Warehouse & Distribution Operative

Location: Lossiemouth, Scotland

Duration: 12 months - initially

Role Type: Onsite

Salary: Depending on experience


Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Warehouse & Distribution Operative to support our globally renowned aerospace client’s Fixed Wing Supply Chain operations at Lossiemouth.

Working within a highly regulated defence aviation environment, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day warehouse, inventory and distribution support, ensuring aircraft parts and materials are received, stored, controlled and dispatched accurately and in accordance with operational priorities. The position involves close collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Platform Operations, RAF Logistics personnel, DE&S and external transport providers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming aircraft parts, materials and equipment, verifying quantities and documentation for accuracy.
  • Pick, pack and dispatch orders in accordance with aircraft and operational priorities.
  • Store and control materials within designated warehouse locations, maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Identify, report and escalate discrepancies and non-conformances, ensuring appropriate segregation and control.
  • Operate warehouse and material-handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet trucks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records to support traceability and audit requirements.
  • Support Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations for spares failing Required Delivery Dates (RDDs).
  • Work closely with internal Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and operational teams to ensure effective material availability and programme support.
  • Maintain warehouse standards in accordance with 6S, Health & Safety, security and company procedures.
  • Review working practices and identify opportunities to improve warehouse, inventory and distribution processes.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs relating to warehouse and distribution performance.
  • Support and mentor less experienced team members in supply chain processes and best practice.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Provide additional and out-of-hours operational support where required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience within warehouse, stores, logistics, distribution or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, stock control and material handling processes.
  • Experience receiving, storing, picking, packing and dispatching materials within a controlled environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation to support audit and traceability requirements.
  • Experience identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies or non-conformances.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), continuous improvement or structured problem-solving would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with ERP, MRP or warehouse management systems; knowledge of SAP or GOLDMRO would be particularly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of aviation, aerospace, defence, MRO or aircraft parts logistics would be highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of repair, maintenance, retrofit, parts kitting and supply chain support environments would be beneficial.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to respond effectively to changing operational requirements.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Safety, security, quality and customer focused, with strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work shifts and provide out-of-hours support where required.
