About the Role
We're looking for an analytical and commercially minded Planning Manager to join our Sheffield (S35) site on a full-time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week on-site. Offering a salary of up to £48,000 depending on experience, this is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role within a fast-paced operational environment, ensuring we have the right people, resources and capacity in place to consistently deliver for our customers.
You'll own our short, medium and long-term site plans for our labour resourcing, transforming complex data and volumes from our key customers into meaningful insight that drives business decisions. Working closely with the General Manager and Finance teams, you'll develop commercially focused workforce and operational plans, produce the daily and weekly reporting that keeps the site performing effectively, and identify trends, risks and opportunities before they impact the operation.

This is a role with genuine influence and visibility across the business. You'll challenge thinking, provide trusted recommendations and drive continuous improvement through data-led decision making. Success in this role requires someone who can balance attention to detail with a broader commercial perspective, building plans that support both operational efficiency and customer expectations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Translate customer forecasts into effective operational plans to support peak activity periods and service delivery.
- Produce daily and weekly labour plans, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently to meet operational demands.
- Monitor forecasts, trends and operational performance, adapting plans proactively to changing business requirements.
- Deliver productivity reporting and planned-versus-actual analysis, identifying variances and driving corrective actions where required.
- Review customer forecast accuracy, highlighting risks, opportunities and variances to key stakeholders.
- Provide meaningful insight to challenge existing practices and identify opportunities to improve operational performance, productivity and cost efficiency.
- Lead weekly planning and performance reviews with Operations, People & Finance and wider site stakeholders.
- Identify staffing gaps, capacity risks and future recruitment requirements, partnering with Operational and HR teams to support workforce planning.
- Maintain and monitor site skills matrices and training plans to ensure the operation has the capability required to meet customer demands.
What We Need From You
- Proven experience within a logistics, supply chain or 3PL environment, with a strong understanding of warehouse operations and hands-on exposure to operational processes.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems alongside knowledge of both closed-book and open-book contract environments.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex data, management information and operational metrics.
- A data-driven approach to decision-making, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence stakeholders using facts and evidence.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver against deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, functions, data modelling and dataset management, alongside strong proficiency across the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Commercially minded with a strong understanding of the relationship between operational performance, customer service and cost management.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring planning and reporting outputs can be relied upon to support business decisions.
