Welcome to HARALD PIHL

We’re a family-owned company with over 110 years of history, but our mindset is anything but old-fashioned. Here, professionalism goes hand in hand with warmth, teamwork, and a healthy dose of positive energy.

We believe in being curious, solution-oriented, and honest in everything we do – and we’re proud of the culture we build together, across borders, roles, and locations. If you enjoy taking responsibility, making things better than they were yesterday, and being part of a company that truly cares about both results and people, you might feel right at home with us.

About the role

We are looking for a Warehouse & Quality Operator to join our team in Birmingham.

This is more than a traditional warehouse role. It is a hands-on position combining warehouse operations, material processing, and quality, where accuracy, traceability, and attention to detail are just as important as getting materials safely and efficiently through the warehouse.

You will work with our specialist alloy materials throughout the operational process, from receiving and inspection through stock handling and material processing to final preparation and dispatch.

You will also support quality-related activities such as dimensional inspection, material certification, documentation, and verification of customer orders.

Your mission is to make sure that every material is handled safely, processed correctly, and remains fully traceable throughout its journey, while contributing to the high-quality standards our customers expect from us.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities will include, among others:

  • Receiving, unloading, and inspecting incoming materials and deliveries
  • Accurately booking materials into stock and maintaining stock records in our ERP system
  • Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch
  • Loading and unloading vehicles using forklifts and lifting equipment
  • Maintaining correct material identification, labelling, and traceability throughout the process
  • Operating saws and other material processing equipment safely and accurately
  • Cutting and preparing materials according to work instructions and customer requirements
  • Performing dimensional and quality checks and using measuring equipment where required
  • Ensuring correct segregation and handling of materials in accordance with quality procedures
  • Identifying and reporting non-conforming materials or process issues
  • Supporting goods-in and final inspection activities
  • Supporting review of material certificates, Certificates of Conformity and other quality documentation, depending on experience
  • Participating in stock counts and supporting stock accuracy
  • Following Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe operating practices
  • Supporting internal audits and continuous improvement activities
  • Working closely with colleagues across Warehouse, Quality, Sales, and Operations to ensure customer requirements are met

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
