Warehouse Shift Manager | Retail | W. Yorkshire | £35k*
Lead a high-performing warehouse operation where people, pace and performance come together.
I'm currently partnering with a retailer who are seeking an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to join a large-scale, fast-paced distribution operation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an operational leader to take ownership of a significant warehouse function, drive continuous improvement and play a key role in delivering outstanding service levels.
Managing a team of around 250 colleagues through a First Line Manager structure, you will be responsible for creating a culture of high performance, engagement and accountability, while ensuring safety, quality and efficiency remain at the heart of the operation.
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts (06:00am - 2:00pm / 2:00pm - 10:00pm), working any 5 days from 7.
The Role
As Warehouse Shift Manager, you will have full responsibility for the performance and delivery of your shift, ensuring operational targets are achieved while continuously improving processes and developing your team.

- Leading, coaching and developing a team of approximately 250 colleagues through a First Line Manager structure.
- Managing day-to-day warehouse operations across inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch, returns and recycling.
- Driving performance against key operational KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
- Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance and safe working practices across the operation.
- Leading continuous improvement activity to improve productivity, accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Working closely with key stakeholders including Inventory, Planning, HR and Health & Safety teams.
- Ensuring labour and resources are effectively planned and aligned to changing business requirements.
- Delivering effective shift briefings, KPI reviews and handovers to maintain clear communication across teams.
- Managing colleague performance through coaching, feedback and structured development plans.
- Supporting the implementation of standard operating processes and best practices.
About You
You will be an experienced warehouse leader with a proven track record of managing large teams within a high-volume distribution environment.

You will have:
- Experience managing operations within a warehouse, fulfilment or distribution environment.
- Proven experience leading large teams through a First Line Manager structure.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, engage and develop colleagues.
- A track record of delivering operational KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems.
- Strong analytical skills with confidence using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for operational excellence.
