The Opportunity

We're looking for motivated and results-driven individual to join our expanding team of Warehouse Shift Managers at our Hemel Hempstead (Maylands) depot. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a fast-paced, high-volume operation where people are at the heart of everything we do. Role Details

  • Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Hours: 40.25 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Days
  • Working Hours: 06:00 AM to 18:00 PM
  • Location: Gist Ltd, Hemel Maylands, Three Cherry Trees Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 7PZ

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the recruitment and induction process within the warehouse department of new colleagues
  • Conduct Daily administration tasks in relation to payroll systems, payroll queries, holidays, etc.
  • Drive shift performance through the team leaders to achieve KPIs
  • Forward planning of operation and delivery of plan in line with live volumes and resource
  • Ensure all requirements relating to safety, health, environment and quality are being fully implemented in the warehouse or escalate
  • Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency and subcontractors
  • Manage direct reports in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:
    • Wellbeing meetings, long term sick management, return to work and disciplinaries
    • Shift briefings when required
  • Collaborate with 3rd party agencies to ensure appropriate resourcing of operation
  • Day to day reviews of plans and system maintenance in line with live volumes
  • Ensuring training and development needs are identified and reviewed frequently
  • Planning and organising operational, people and safety meetings
  • Accident investigations and reporting
  • Conduct hazard walks and observations
  • Maintain and improve performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPI's

What We're Looking For

  • Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of a warehouse function within the FMCG Distribution Industry
  • A background operating at a management level is a must
  • A passion for encouraging teamwork, focusing on creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas
  • Excellent team management skill for developing Team Leaders
  • An analytical mind-set
  • Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future
  • You'll come in to contact with Trade Unions (previous experience with this would be beneficial)
