Romac Logistics are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Night Shift Manager to join our growing operation based in Chesterfield.
This is a hands-on night shift management role with responsibility for ensuring the safe, efficient and consistent running of our chilled warehouse operation throughout the shift. You will lead the night team, manage labour and operational performance, maintain high standards of Health & Safety and compliance, and ensure inbound and outbound activity is delivered in line with agreed service levels and dispatch times.
Working closely with Warehouse Team Leaders, Planning, Transport and Customer Services, you will take ownership of the shift from handover through to completion, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact our customers or wider network.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the warehouse operation throughout the night shift, ensuring operational, productivity and service targets are achieved.
- Complete comprehensive handovers at the beginning and end of each shift, highlighting performance, outstanding actions and operational risks.
- Conduct shift briefs and effectively allocate workload and priorities to Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives.
- Complete and distribute end-of-shift reports, daily checklists and required management information.
- Carry out regular warehouse walk-rounds and operational sweeps to ensure tasks are being completed safely, accurately and on time.
- Ensure the warehouse operates in line with agreed dispatch times, working closely with Transport to protect customer service levels.
- Track late inbound Day 1 stock and proactively communicate any potential impact on the operation.
- Manage new business volumes entering the network and ensure all operational requirements are understood and delivered.
- Re-plan activity where required and complete root-cause analysis where journeys are over-planned or operational performance has not been achieved.
Skills And Experience
- Previous experience in a Warehouse Shift Manager, Warehouse Manager or similar operational leadership role within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within chilled, FMCG, food distribution or high-volume logistics would be advantageous.
- Strong people-management skills with the ability to lead, develop and hold teams accountable for performance.
- Proven ability to manage warehouse productivity, labour and operational KPIs.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and warehouse compliance requirements.
- Ability to remain calm, make decisions and re-prioritise activity within a busy night operation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with Transport, Planning, Customer Services and senior management.
- Good working knowledge of WMS systems and Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate operational and compliance records.
- A hands-on leadership style with a proactive, can-do approach.
