Warehouse Shift Manager
We're looking for a Warehouse Shift Manager to work within the frozen warehouse team in Darton, Barnsley.
The role will see direct and indirect managerial responsibilities across various teams who are managing the operational activity.
As Shift Manager you will ensure the effective management of daily/weekly productivity, quality, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, costs, waste and people and maximise efficiency and drive change through continuous improvement in the completion of daily operational tasks, including, Picking, Packing, Labelling, MHE, & Goods In support.
The role will require consistent working within a Freezer environment, Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

Roles Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient running of warehouse operations shifts across frozen (and supporting chill operations as required).
- Manage daily operational activity, monitoring workflows, risks, KPIs and SLAs, and implementing corrective actions to maintain service levels.
- Lead and motivate shift teams, including labour planning, staff deployment, temporary labour management and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, hygiene, quality and environmental standards, including accurate completion of compliance documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, operational efficiency and brand integrity controls across the operation.
- Investigate operational and product non-conformances, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct team management activities including briefings, 1:1s, development plans, absence management, recruitment, onboarding and disciplinary processes.
- Produce and review daily, weekly and monthly operational KPI reports and ensure effective shift handovers.
- Maintain training compliance, coach and develop colleagues, and support succession planning within the team.
- Act as a key operational contact, escalating issues to relevant departments and serving as an Emergency Response Marshall

Requirements
- To undertake and keep up to date with all mandatory training required for your role e.g. Manual Handling, Food Safety
- Proven record of management in a large-scale operation whilst managing a team of staff
- Solid interpersonal skills with an ability to anticipated and rectify potential problems
- Lead by example and always uphold Company Shop Group values
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- To be flexible and adaptable to support the needs of the business
- Strong operational and technical knowledge of your departmental area
- Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own workload
- Able to work to strict deadlines
- Strong operations, distribution or manufacturing background or proven relevant experience
- Line management experience (supervisory management qualification would be advantageous)
- Demonstrable ability to coach and mentor teams to deliver results through people
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous experience of working with budgets and KPI's would be preferred
- Service focused mindset for both internal and external customers
- Solution focused mindset bringing solutions and opportunities
- A desire to continually focus on your own continued professional development

Hours: 40 hours per week working 7am -3:30pm Monday to Friday
