Job Title: Warehouse & Storage Tutor/Trainer

Location: North Staffordshire / Stoke-on-Trent
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000.00 – Dependent on Experience
Holiday: 25 Days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays

Reporting To: Head of Operations / Head of Learning

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Warehouse & Storage Tutor/Trainer to join our training team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment to learners undertaking warehouse, storage and supply chain programmes.
This is a practical, learner-focused role requiring someone who can combine strong occupational knowledge of the warehousing and logistics sector with effective teaching, coaching and assessment skills.
You will support learners to develop the practical skills, knowledge, behaviors and employability skills required to successfully complete their programme and progress into sustainable employment or further development.

Key Responsibilities

The Warehouse & Storage Tutor/Trainer will:

  • Deliver engaging classroom and practical training in warehousing, storage, logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Deliver Level 2 Warehouse and Storage / Warehousing qualifications and associated programmes.
  • Plan and deliver structured lessons and practical training sessions that meet individual learner needs.
  • Assess learners against relevant qualification and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Carry out observations, professional discussions, portfolio assessments and other appropriate assessment activities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support learners to achieve their qualifications within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate, up-to-date learner records.
  • Complete individual learning plans, reviews and progress documentation as required.
  • Support apprentices and maintain effective communication with their employers.
  • Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment where applicable.
  • Embed English, maths, digital skills, employability and wider personal development within delivery.
  • Promote positive attitudes towards attendance, punctuality, behavior and workplace expectations.
  • Support learners with CV development, interview preparation and progression into employment where appropriate.
  • Ensure training and assessment activities comply with awarding organisation, funding and internal quality requirements.
  • Participate in standardization, internal quality assurance, staff development and CPD activities.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and professional learning environment.
  • Ensure all practical activities are delivered in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Contribute positively to the continuous improvement and development of NSEG's warehouse and logistics provision.

Forklift Truck Training

The ability to deliver Forklift Truck (FLT) training would be highly desirable.
Candidates with recognized FLT instructor/trainer qualifications and experience delivering forklift training would be particularly welcomed.
Where appropriate, the successful candidate will support the delivery of practical FLT training alongside the wider warehouse and logistics curriculum.

Essential Skills & Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • Relevant occupational experience within warehousing, storage, logistics or supply chain operations.
  • A recognised teaching or training qualification, or willingness to work towards an appropriate qualification.
  • A recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience of training, coaching, mentoring or assessing learners within a workplace or training environment.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse operations and safe working practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage learners from a range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Good IT and digital skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety and maintaining high professional standards.

Desirable Skills & Experience

It would be advantageous to have:

  • A recognised Forklift Truck Instructor/Trainer qualification.
  • Experience delivering Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck training.
  • Experience delivering warehouse or supply chain apprenticeships.
  • Experience working within Further Education, Independent Training Providers or work-based learning.
  • Experience supporting unemployed/adult learners into employment.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and End-Point Assessment.
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification or experience.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Experience working directly with employers.
