Warehouse Manager
A busy and fast-paced business with great benefits, opportunities for career progression and a friendly, hard-working team. Join BSS as Warehouse Manager and take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and well-organised running of our Glasgow warehouse, transport and delivery operation.
The Role
As Warehouse Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our busy Glasgow warehouse, ensuring we maintain the high standards of safety, service, accuracy and efficiency our customers expect.
You'll lead and support the warehouse team, working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor, Sales Team and Drivers to ensure customer orders are picked, checked, loaded and dispatched accurately and on time.
You'll also take responsibility for transport compliance and administration within the branch, ensuring relevant processes, records and documentation are maintained and that our delivery operation operates safely and compliantly.
The role will involve overseeing the wider operation and coordinating people, processes and priorities, but you'll also need to be comfortable getting hands-on when required. Whether that's supporting the team during a busy period, helping resolve an operational issue or stepping in to ensure customer commitments are met, you'll lead by example and understand the importance of being visible and involved in the operation.
You'll also head up health and safety for the branch, working with colleagues to maintain high standards, identify risks, investigate incidents and near misses, and ensure agreed processes and controls are consistently followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the warehouse and delivery operation, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.
- Lead, manage and develop the warehouse team, providing clear direction, support and accountability.
- Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to coordinate workloads, order control and logistics planning across the warehouse and delivery operation.
- Ensure customer orders are picked, checked, prepared and dispatched accurately and on time.
- Oversee order control, ensuring outstanding, priority and problem orders are identified, monitored and resolved promptly.
- Work closely with the Sales Team to clarify order requirements, manage expectations and resolve operational issues.
- Coordinate with drivers and the delivery team to ensure vehicles are loaded correctly, paperwork is accurate and deliveries are dispatched safely and on schedule.
- Oversee the receipt, checking and storage of incoming goods and maintain effective stock control and warehouse organisation.
- Take responsibility for transport compliance and administration within the branch, ensuring relevant records, checks, documentation and processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Support the Warehouse Supervisor with logistics planning, including delivery priorities, vehicle utilisation, workload planning and resolving operational issues.
- Investigate and resolve issues relating to missing, damaged or incorrect products, escalating significant issues where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, stock accuracy and warehouse organisation.
- Take overall responsibility for health and safety within the branch, promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring safe working practices are followed.
- Ensure hazards, near misses and incidents are reported, investigated and followed up appropriately.
- Carry out relevant safety checks, inspections and audits and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales.
- Identify operational risks and implement practical measures to improve safety and efficiency.
- Support the training, development and performance management of warehouse colleagues.
- Lead by example and be prepared to work hands-on within the warehouse when operational requirements demand it.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, order accuracy, stock control and delivery efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure relevant warehouse, transport and compliance systems are kept up to date.
- Work collaboratively with the wider branch management team to deliver excellent customer service and branch performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
