Location: Snow Hill, Birmingham (3 days per week on-site)
Rate: Up to £500/day (Inside IR35 / Umbrella)
Contract Length: 3–6 months initial contract (Strong view toward Permanent Conversion)
Role Overview
Our client is driving a major strategic transformation across its business supply chain operating model. We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Strategy Manager to define what future warehousing, fulfilment, staging, and configuration capabilities should look like.
In this role, you will lead the strategic review to determine what operational elements remain in-house versus what should be outsourced. You will evaluate site consolidation opportunities, assess emerging supply chain technologies, and build robust business cases to guide executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Strategic Operating Model Design: Lead the Future Stores & Fulfilment Operating Model review. Define requirements, principles, and strategic options for warehousing, fulfilment, staging, configuration, returns, and refurbishment operations.
- In-House vs. Outsourcing Evaluation: Analyze current capabilities and assess internal, outsourced, and hybrid operating models. Define clear boundaries for what stays in-house versus third-party provision.
- Site Consolidation & Estate Strategy: Evaluate network footprint and site consolidation options to drive operational efficiency without compromising resilience or customer service.
- Business Case Development: Build robust, data-backed business cases and strategic recommendations to support major restructures, transformational changes, and future procurement routes.
- Technology & Systems Alignment: Translate operational needs into clear technology and enterprise systems requirements (including WMS, automation, and staging capabilities).
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Procurement, Property, Digital, Security, Finance, and Operations teams to align strategic roadmaps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
