As an apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to install, maintain and fault-find on the following systems:
- Access Control
- Video Surveillance
- Intruder Alarms
This is a domestic-based, hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving and learning new technical skills in different environments. You will be working in people’s homes, so being polite, respectful and considerate of their property and privacy is essential.
Entry Requirements
- A full driving licence.
- Aged 18 or over.
- GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
- Some experience using power tools.
Training to be Provided

Your apprenticeship training is delivered by Skills for Security, specialists in fire and security training.

You’ll train through block release at our Walsall centre, for one week every eight weeks (Tuesday–Friday).
You’ll work towards a Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician apprenticeship, gaining real skills and a nationally recognised qualification.
What you’ll do as part of the programme:
- Train hands-on with real systems
- Learn from industry experts
- Complete a wide range of tasks and projects
- Build evidence from your job to support your learning
- Sit annual assessments at the centre
